PADI Underwater Navigator

from £175.00

Be the scuba diver everyone wants to follow because you know exactly where you are and where you're going.

The PADI Underwater Navigator course fine-tunes your observation skills and teaches you to more accurately use your compass underwater. If you like challenges with big rewards, take this course and have fun finding your way.

WHY SHOULD I DO THIS COURSE?

Being a great navigator is both challenging and rewarding, but It’s easy to get disoriented underwater if you don’t know how to use a compass or natural navigation clues. With the PADI Underwater Navigator course, learn how to easily find your way back to boat or shore without returning to the surface and avoid long, exhausting swims.

WHAT WILL I DO?

During this course, you will learn about the planning, organisation, procedures, techniques, problems and hazards of underwater navigation. You will also learn how to:

  • Use a dive compass

  • Navigate making multiple turns

  • Estimate distance

During your three dives, you will learn:

  • To build on and improve your navigation skills

  • To find the dive boat / ascent line without surfacing

  • Learn to read and understand natural navigational clues

WHAT SCUBA GEAR WILL I USE?

You will need your basic scuba equipment. In addition to this, you will require a torch, a navigation aid such as compass and a grid slate . A reel and marker buoy are provided. Please speak to your instructor if you require any of the above mentioned items for use during this course.

WHAT ARE THE PREREQUISITES FOR THIS COURSE?

Minimum Age: 10

Open Water (Junior) or above

You will also be required to complete:

  • PADI Continuing Education Administrative Document

  • PADI Medical Statement

Answering YES to any of the questions on the PADI Medical Statement requires you to get a medical physician to sign the form to confirm your fitness to dive. This is required before any in-water activities.

Please note: you will not be able to take part in any pool or open water sessions without confirming your fitness to dive.

WHAT CAN I DO NEXT?

The first dive of the PADI Underwater Navigator course may count toward your Advanced Open Water Diver certification – ask your instructor about earning credit.

Every specialty certification you complete brings you one step closer to becoming a PADI Master Scuba Diver™. Fewer than two percent of divers ever achieve this elite rating.
